Criteria for selecting school furniture for NUSH

The reform in the education system and the introduction of NLS brought changes not only to the school curriculum. Innovations also affected furniture. New criteria and standards have appeared that are mandatory for all educational institutions. About what furniture to choose for a school classroom and what to consider – we tell you.

Requirements for school furniture

Desks and chairs – basic items in the classroom interior. NUS puts forward certain requirements for them:

  1. Use of thick-walled metal to create frames.
  2. Coating of structures with polymer powder paint.
  3. Fittings and fasteners should not stick out.
  4. Increased stability.

It is also necessary that interior items have orthopedic properties so that the musculoskeletal system is subject to less stress. You need to carefully understand how to choose school furniture for a nursery school taking into account these requirements.

Features of choosing furniture for NUS

There are three main criteria:

  1. Ergonomics and safety.
  2. Height adjustable.
  3. Material

All furniture should be comfortable and not pose a threat to the health of schoolchildren. Ergonomic furniture for schools should not have sharp corners or edges, the corners should be rounded, and the edges should be protected with pads.

During production, special attention is paid to the height of desks and chairs. Schoolchildren should feel comfortable in the workplace. Therefore, you need to select furniture for the secondary school, taking into account age characteristics: for lower grades it is lower and more compact, and for older students – school chairs and large tables are required. There should also be height adjustments to adjust the furniture for children of different heights.

Only environmentally friendly materials should be used in production. So, the frame must be metal, resistant to loads. Backs, table tops and seats – wooden, plywood, chipboard, wood can be used.

Types of furniture for NUS

Basic furniture for schools – these are desks and chairs.

Current standards for school furniture provide for the use of different concepts when organizing space. Desks can be single or modular (for group classes). But in any case, it is important that there is a working space of at least 50x60 cm per student.

In the design of chairs, attention is paid not only to their height, but also to their depth. It should be 2/3-3/4 of the length of the child’s thigh. Other requirements include: a recess for the buttocks, a rounded front edge, and a curved back. Armrests are not needed so as not to interfere with the formation of posture.

What color to choose school furniture

In addition to the question of what materials to use for furniture in a school, you should take into account that there are requirements for design. Correctly selected colors help children absorb information more easily and improve their psycho-emotional state. Therefore, when choosing, it is worth considering a number of criteria:

  1. It is better to give preference to furniture in natural light shades of wood.
  2. You cannot choose white desks and chairs; due to the sharp contrast, they negatively affect vision.
  3. The metal frame should be painted in neutral tones or black.
  4. Surfaces should not be glossy; it is recommended to choose tables and chairs with smooth matte finishes.
